about

After a year and a half in NY, I wanted to record an album with some of my friends that lived in the city. At this point I had started writing short melodys like the Ornette and Cherry tunes I had been listening to.
I thought it would be nice to include some of these along with some tunes from my fellow musicians on the album. I wanted this album to have composed and free tunes but also with "some" limitations.
No tunes over 10 min. And very short melodies. The short tunes became a collection based on a conversation w/ Matt Wilson, where the use of a stop watch was used for a benefit concert (thanks Adam Schatz!).
Numbers 4, 12, 14, 17, 18, and 19 is this collection. Idea: Each duo started playing and stopped when the timer zeroed (1:14min total) . You can hear the computer alarm used on track 12, an accident, followed
by a great laugh from Jeff Lederer.
